A fantastic scene illuminated by a faint light of 1,000 lanterns in the precincts

Kameido Tenjin Shrine enshrined Sugawara Michizane as the god of learning, it is said that there is a divine favor for the students. Kameido Tenjin Shrine annual festival will be held for three days.

“Kentomyo” (献灯明 / けんとうみょう) that is decorating more than 1,000 votive lighted lanterns, and “Takigi-Kagura” (薪神楽 / たきぎかぐら) that is torch-lighted Shinto dance will be held on 25th August. This year’s program of Takigi-Kagura is “Yomotsushikome”.
